Are you wondering when you can expect your baby to self-settle and resettle?
During the trenches of sleep deprivation, us mummas can often find ourselves wondering when our baby will learn how to self soothe and link their sleep cycles to give us a break for longer than 30-40 minutes!
Setting realistic expectations for both you and your baby can help ease your mind regarding when you can anticipate this to happen.
Typically, newborns begin to develop the ability to self-soothe from* 3 months of age (please consider that if your baby was premature, this milestone may take a bit longer). While infants begin to develop the ability to self-settle from* 4 months, they will often still need your support to link sleep cycles until around 5 months of age. This is why at first your baby may begin self-settling, but still needs your support to link their sleep cycles for another month or so.
If your baby is continuing to catnap beyond this age, reach out to us for a consultation today so that we can guide and support you in teaching your baby how to self soothe and link their sleep cycles 🫶🏻💫🩷
