How to help your sick baby feel better ♡

🍯 Manuka Honey
Opting for manuka honey with a high MGO (methylglyoxal) rating, ideally above 400+, can help soothe sore throats, reduce inflammation and discomfort, while helping to fight off infections and bacteria 🤧🦠

🪻Pure Essential Oils
Pure essential oils such as eucalyptus and lavender can help to open your baby’s airway, reduce congestion, and promote better sleep 🙌🏻. You can use them in a diffuser or by applying a few drops to the outside of their sleeping bag for gentle inhalation 👃🏻. We recommend @doterraaunz or @springfieldsaustralia’s certified organic pure essential oils.

🧴Chest Rub:
We do not recommend conventional chest rubs like Vicks Vaporub, as they are derived from petroleum ⛽️and other harsh chemicals 🙅🏻‍♀️. Instead, we love @123nourishme Chesty Rub Balm or making your own with beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter, and your choice of pure essential oils. We will share the recipe in an upcoming post 🥰

🚿 Steamy Showers
If you have a young baby, try putting their portable bath on the base of the shower, closing the door, and allowing the steam to loosen their congestion. This makes it easier for them to breathe, especially in the morning and before bed 😴. However, we recommend investing in a shower filter, such as @wellverti, to remove the nasty chemicals in tap water that can also exacerbate eczema or dry out your baby’s skin 😫🆘

🧅 Brown Onions
Onions are a natural decongestant, hence cutting one up and placing it beside your baby’s bed or under their socks can help to relieve congestion and coughing overnight 😴

🥤Purée Foods
When our babies are sick, they often struggle with congestion, making it even more difficult to breathe when chewing or eating solids 😫. If your baby’s appetite decreases, consider adding some whole foods into a smoothie, making it easier for them to consume some calories without the need to chew 😍

😴 Sleep
Lastly, maintaining consistency in their feed and sleep schedule will support their recovery, however, they may need a little more flexibility with more day sleep, especially if they aren’t sleeping well overnight 😫
