Having recently fully committed ourselves to start toilet training Noah, we thought we’d share our top 4 must-haves in the hope that you are better prepared than we were! 😅🚽
💧 A mini steam cleaner
It doesn’t need to be the top-of-the-line Dyson with all the accessories you’re unlikely to ever use! We purchased a more affordable VAX steam cleaner, which is super lightweight and perfect if you have a velcro toddler like ours where we often have to steam-clean or vacuum with him on our hip at the same time! 😅
💧 Puppy pads
We initially used these to protect our fabric couch, but Noah soon discovered that it was a fun trick to turn the white pad to blue by weeing on it instead of using his potty 🫠. Instead, we continued to use these underneath his potty to catch any over-flow 😬
💧 Reusable puppy pads (AKA “Kylies” for any of my nurse mummas 😉)
We switched to reusable puppy pads for the couch instead of the disposable ones, as Noah perceived them to be a blanket that was tucked into the couch 😅. Since then, he hasn’t done any of his “magic tricks” on them, aside from an occasional accident here and there! 🤞🏻 They also come in a pack of two from Kmart, so you can have one in the wash while the other is on the couch or on their bed! 👏🏻
💧 GOTS certified organic cotton underwear
While it may not be practical or affordable to have organic clothing for everything your baby wears, we strongly recommend investing in GOTS certified organic cotton for their underwear when the time comes 🥰. Certified organic cotton is not only breathable, absorbent, and hypoallergenic, but it is also free from harmful chemicals, pesticides, and synthetic dyes - unlike synthetic materials such as polyester or nylon ⚠️🚫
We also chose to size up to allow for shrinkage in the washing, prevent the feeling of wearing a nappy, allow enough room for breathability, and to get longevity from the purchase 😄
